The Toffees hope to bring Barkley back to the team

Everton are reportedly interest in bringing Chelsea midfielder Ross Barkley back to Goodison Park in January.

Barkley, 28, moved from Merseyside to west London four years ago for £15million but suffered an injury. And the meager playing opportunities mean he still hasn’t been born at Stamford Bridge yet.

Barkley is one of the January loan targets for Toffees boss Rafa Benitez, who is looking to reinforce his squad in the second half of the season.

The Toffees have had a number of injuries in the squa. Including Richarlison, Andros Townsend, Yerry Mina and Tom Davis, while Dominic Calvert-Lewin has been ruled out. It’s close to making a comeback.

Barkley’s transfer could be possible if Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel sees he has enough players in the squad for the tight schedule.

I’m optimistic and I’m ambitious. I think Everton should be competing in Europe and I don’t think that’s off the cards this season. We have the quality in the squad and the staff so it’s up to us as players to go out there and perform. The manager’s record speaks for itself and he’s come here to win more. I’d love to be part of a winning team here. It’s been too long since this Club won silverware and it’d be incredible to be part of the next team to do that. That has to be the aim,” says Anthony Gordon.
